My day started out around 3:45 am. Probably a lot earlier than most people I know who ran. Now before you assume I'm crazy, I knew that with the amount of training I had completed (not near enough whatsoever) and with the feat that was ahead of me. The only way, I was going to be able to finish this would be through the power of Jesus. So, I got up, did my devotional.
After my alarm almost scaring me awake, I first thought to myself, "How did I get myself into this one...". I rolled out of bed, got my coffee and continued on with my quiet time. I then got all of my stuff for the race that I had precisely set out the night before. I met at a friend's house and we carpooled down the Team World Vision tent where we listened to music, prayed, took a group photo and sang Amazing Grace.
The atmosphere that filled the entire tent was amazing. People from all different walks of life, some never running a day in their life before deciding to train, some who run all the time, and some there for support. This was a group of people who made a decision to become selfless and run or support someone who was running for a cause bigger than themselves.
Also, check out this awesome team. There were over 200 people from PV alone and over 600 people running for the Kansas City Marathon. All of these other people ran for the same reason. Clean water.
As a team, we were able to raise enough money for over 7000 children to have clean water for life. It only takes $50 to provide clean water for children for their entire life.
Finally, I just wanted to say thank you for all who supported me in this journey and anyone who came to cheer us on!
